About Driftwood Theatre

Founded in 1995 and based in Picton since 2021, Driftwood Theatre is driven by a vision of good people connected by great stories. We work to support Ontario-based theatre creators at all stages in their artistic journey – from students to professionals – in developing original plays which respond to the world we live in today through epic and mythic storytelling.

At Driftwood Theatre, we believe in the power of theatrical storytelling to bring people together. Theatre builds empathy, understanding and community through the shared act of experiencing a story, expressed live and in-person between performer(s) and audience.

Driftwood’s mission is to tell stories wherever and whenever we can in ways which are uncompromisingly live and surprisingly unexpected; to develop and produce plays rooted in mythic and epic storytelling, while remaining responsive to the world we live in right now; to immerse ourselves in the act of sharing stories, where communities are both audiences to and participants in the creative process; and to welcome all people in the creation, performance, and exploration of the work.
