Doug Meaney is primarily, though not solely, a photographer interested mostly in “macro” work including botanicals and purely abstract themes. The study of light’s unique characteristics such as refraction, dispersion, interference and polarization for example are of most interest to him. Being recently (mostly) retired, he can now afford the time to spend behind the lens. What a joy it is! Most days!
Doug belongs to many art/photography groups and has recently begun to print and show some of his images. He has shown at the ArtWorks Gallery in Kingston, Ontario. Also, his work was recently recognized in the Light Space & Time Online Gallery. His work was awarded 5th place in the photography category and 8th place overall in their recent “Botanicals” Competition.
“As one of my great inspirations once said, ‘I never met a colour I didn’t like.'” So said the amazing Dale Chihuly. Pretty much sums it up for Doug too.
