'Cool Wave Silk Shawl' - 100% handspun/hand-dyed silk
After a successful career in Canada’s public service, Christine Winiarz Searle moved from Ottawa to Wellington in 2014. Cosmic Crochet PEC was launched with the express idea of sharing her lifelong passion for making beautiful, custom-crafted garments in natural fibres like cotton, silk and alpaca. Living the dream, Christine continuously nurtures her craft, refining skills in artistic crochet techniques like Tunisian and Freeform using sustainable and luxurious yarns often hand-spun or hand-dyed locally.
Christine’s artwork is inspired by the feel of fibres in her hands, the shaping of textured colourful fabric, the anticipated comfort of a mindfully-crafted piece of wearable art. Most of the unique samples in Cosmic’s prêt-à-porter collections are inspired in the moment, cultivated as the fabric emerges.
