Winter 2026 at the County Arts Lab

Artscene January 2026 Edition

Winter 2026 at the County Arts Lab
Winter 2026 courses and workshops at the County Arts Lab have something for everyone!

Our Winter Session at the County Arts Lab features a mix of hands-on courses and workshops for adults and kids alike, spanning visual arts, textiles, writing, movement, music, and more!

Stay creative through the colder months with hands-on courses and workshops! On Tuesday evenings, Jamie Janx Johnston returns with the Introduction to Street Art & Murals class, this time for adults! Explore graffiti, stencilling, wheat pasting, and urban art history. Learn felting techniques with Lesley Snyder Thursday mornings in The Magic of Felting with Wool. Zac Kenny is back with another Intermediate Abstract Painting class, and Claire Tallarico returns with an extended Make Your Mark: Rust Lab 101/102 Fridays. Each course offers the opportunity to explore materials, build skills, and develop your creative voice!

For kids, we’re thrilled to welcome Samantha Hirst to the County Arts team, leading Music & Movement for Minis (ages 4-6) and Musical Theatre Basics for Kids (ages 7-9) on Sunday mornings! Kids ages 7-13 can also join Julie Seddon for Wild Beasts, a fun and expressive painting workshop happening at the start of March Break.

Don’t miss our lineup of Winter workshops, including textile arts with Christine Renaud in Mixed Media Embroidery and Dreamscapes in Fabric Collage with Hedy Campbell. Painters can join Julie Seddon in Painting Startsa 2-day acrylic painting workshop. Writers are invited to explore Finding and Nurturing Your Poetic Voice with poet and educator Leigh Nash, or Creative Writing 101 with award-winning author and acclaimed writing instructor Kathryn Kuitenbrouwer

We’re also excited to welcome award-winning choreographer and former Artistic Director of Toronto Dance Theatre, Christopher House, who will lead Choreographic Thinking for All Artists. This workshop is for artists working in disciplines other than dance who are curious about the potential of choreographic thinking in their practice!
