Watercolour Walk

Artscene July 2026 Edition

Watercolour Walk
Hudgin Log House by David Coulson.

Join hiker and plein-air painter Tim Snyder and South Shore Footpath Project volunteers for a sketching excursion in Prince Edward County’s rare and remarkable South Shore on July 22nd, 2026 from 9 AM-2:30 PM. With less than ten spots still available for this outdoor art experience, South Shore Joint Initiative is excited to present its newest educational offering, a South Shore Watercolour Walk.

Enjoy a day with fellow artists, your favourite sketchbook and watercolours (or bring-your-own medium). No experience necessary, beginners encouraged. Tim will talk about picking a subject, composing it on the page, watercolour techniques, and sketchbook do’s and don’ts (spoiler: there are no don’ts). Walk at your own pace.

Spanning 26 km, the South Shore is Canada’s largest and last mostly undeveloped Lake Ontario natural landscape and shoreline. Find inspiration in the heritage-designated Hudgin Log House, situated on the Hudgin-Rose Nature Reserve, iconic apple tree and the surrounding, globally endangered alvar landscape. Walk and sketch your way to the Lake Ontario shoreline and back again.

Get inspired, discover the area’s scenic, historic and ecological delights, reinvigorate your art practice and most importantly, enhance your well-being while savouring a day in nature at this pay-what-you-can ($50 suggested) event.
