2gallery‘s final, and very unique, exhibition for 2022 is here.
Snowshoes. A mode of winter transportation – and a symbol of practical knowledge representing thousands of years of cultural history. In 1608, Samuel de Champlain provided the first written account of the First Nations using snowshoes to walk across the deep winter snow.
Beautiful? Practical? Fine craft? Uniquely Canadian? First Nations ingenuity?

2gallery gave Gallery and Guest Artists a single, vintage snowshoe, and set no boundaries on creativity. Do with it whatever you wish. Make it beautiful. Make a statement. Be bold. Be political. Have some fun.
Visit the Gallery or take a look online to discover an icon reimagined.
The Snowshoe Show runs until December 24th.
