ROC x County Arts Mural Launch Party

ROC x County Arts Mural Launch Party
A team of youth artists from the ROC creating murals along the theme of belonging.

The Recreation Outreach Centre and the Prince Edward County Arts Council (County Arts) are delighted to invite the community to a Mural Launch Party on June 1st!

Over the last few months, a team of youth artists from the ROC and professional artist facilitators have been designing and creating a series of murals along the theme of belonging. The resulting public art installation will be affixed to the tennis court fence in Picton’s Benson Park from June-August 2023 for the summer-long enjoyment of the entire community.

When: Thursday, June 1st from 3:30-5 PM (remarks at 4 PM)

Where: Benson Park, 56 King Street, Picton, ON

Please join us as we celebrate this unique opportunity to give voice to County youth’s visions of a welcoming community, and for all residents to rediscover and celebrate our collective sense of belonging, identity, and pride of place after a challenging few years.

We are interested in learning about the impact of community-engaged public art projects like this one on the wider community. Once you’ve gotten the chance to take in the mural installation, please take a minute to fill in our Community Survey. Thank you!

This community-engaged arts project is a collaboration between the ROC and County Arts, and made possible thanks to a Canada Healthy Communities Initiative grant awarded by the Community Foundations of Canada / Government of Canada.
