With a mandate to engage with the community to make art accessible to all, Arts on Main Gallery is thrilled to feature paintings by Ethan Weitendorf’ in The Backroom during the month of January. The show opens January 10th, and closes at the end of the month.
Ethan’s neurodiversity has gifted him with a unique artistic ability. His paintings are truly remarkable for their bold colours, direct graphic quality and unique signature style. Once you’ve seen one of his works, you’ll instantly recognize his unmistakable approach. Each painting begins with a line charcoal drawing on canvas, each line and shape flowing in a remarkable, matter-of-fact way that is a joy to witness. Ethan’s concentration is intense despite the appearance of ease and he rarely changes the drawing. He carefully works his way around the composition, making one colour decision at a time. He often uses colour straight from the tube balanced with complex grays and neutrals, resulting in a beautiful and striking harmony of colours and shapes.
Take a closer look at Ethan’s paintings and see for yourself the incredible talent and his unique perspective. Meet Ethan at the Opening Reception in The Backroom of Arts on Main Gallery on Saturday, January 13th from 1 PM to 4 PM.
