Melanie Mena

From a very young age, Melanie Mena showed interest in working with clay. Encouraged by her high school art teacher, she began to study wheel throwing at a local community centre, and has been making pottery ever since.

Melanie continued her practice for 10 years while working various desk jobs. When Melanie realized she wanted to dedicate her career to ceramics, she wrote a business plan, designed her first three lines of pottery and on December 1, 2010 launched her business Mena Dragonfly.

In 2012, Melanie opened her pottery studio and shop in the carriage house on her Prince Edward County property, which also includes The Black Licorice Tree B&B, which she runs with her husband. All guests are served breakfast on her handmade tableware.

Melanie is participating in The Maker’s Hand taking place on November 1-3 at Lehigh Arena, 111 Belleville Street, Wellington. You can also find her in the 2019-20 Arts Trail guide.
