Multi-disciplinary artist Nella Casson hopes to inspire feelings of joy and encouragement with her art installation titled Looking Out – Looking Up. The large dioramas created for storefront windows are based on the theme of the end of isolation, incorporating sketches and embroidered pieces created during the recent times of lockdown. She uses embroidery, textiles, cardboard and wood to create a view into a colourful mini-world, reminding the viewer of more joyful times to come.
See the installation at Books & Company until July 31 at 289 Main Street, Picton. Nella hopes the piece will move around to other storefront window locations during the month of August and September.
This project was supported with a Prince Edward County Arts Council public art grant.
