Late Spring at the County Arts Lab

Artscene May 2023 Edition

There are lots of late spring offerings for everyone at the County Arts Lab!

The County Arts Lab late spring session is officially open for registration! There are plenty of brand new courses as well as returning favourites throughout May & June. This is your last chance to enjoy some amazing art-making opportunities before the Arts Lab turns into a rehearsal hall for the summer. So don’t delay- sign up today!

First up beginning May 9, author and creative writing coach Andrew Binks returns to the Lab with a memoir writing course on Tuesday afternoons. Zac Kenny will help participants develop their own visual language on Monday evenings beginning May 15 in an abstract painting course. The wildly popular Drawing for Absolute Beginners with Irene Götz is returning for anyone 15 + on Wednesday evenings beginning May 17. Join Irene to learn and practice this important foundational skill.

Experimental Animation with Ambivalently Yours is on Tuesday evenings beginning May 23 and is open to anyone 15+. This course is an exciting look into a variety of traditional animation techniques, no technical skill required! Later in May, professional illustrator Clayton Hanmer will help youth ages 13-19 bring an illustration project to life in a special 4-week Monday afternoon youth illustration course.

There are also two workshops open for registration, and spots are going fast! Sara Keller will teach Cyanotypes on Sunday June 11th and then Knots by Felicia will lead a Macrame Plant Hanger Workshop on Wednesday June 21st!
