The Parrot Gallery presents two new exhibitions- Landed Again: Land Seen From Near and Far, and Patience: A Space for Reflection and Thought. Meet fibre artists Linda Coulter and Phillida Hargreaves along with printmaker Roger Sutcliffe at the opening on March 11th from 2:30-4 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event. Light refreshments will be served.
Linda Coulter is based in Kingston, Ontario, and uses a variety of techniques as a textile artist, including dyeing, painting, stamping, rusting and screen printing textiles. Mostly working using collage, she develops her pieces with a hint of abstraction, and a lot of bold colour, with the goal of providing the viewer with the emotion of the moment.
Also a Kingston-based artist, Phillida Hargreaves is a member of the Kingston Fibre Artists, a group of women interested in experimenting with the medium. She has been making and selling fibre art for over 30 years and has won awards at the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto and the Grand National Quilt Show, including the Grand Prize in 2010.
Roger Sutcliffe is a Nepean-based painter and printmaker and an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA) and the Society of Canadian Artists. Since 2013, his work has been included in over 150 exhibitions and his printmaking has been exhibited in Canada, the USA, Spain, England, France, and Poland.
Both shows run until April 12th at The Parrott Gallery, 254 Pinnacle Street, Belleville.
