BigLake Concerts 2022 is proud to present their July Double Bill – two contrasting concerts back-to-back in anticipation of the BigLake Festival 2022, featuring young new Canadian talent.
On July 28, Virginia MacDonald and Lucian Gray perform in The Garden at Closson Chase Vineyards. Virginia MacDonald is a powerful new voice in the music scene. Having garnered attention in Canada and the USA as a recipient of the 2019 Stingray Music Rising Star Award and the 2020 International Clarinetist Corona Competition first prize winner, Virginia will be joined by Lucian Gray, a virtuoso guitarist known for his commanding sound.
On July 29, BigLake is thrilled to present a concert featuring the results of a dynamic mentorship programme. 3 selected early-career Canadian composers are each writing a new work for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and percussion and are working with composition mentors to fine tune their creations. In this new programme, 6 selected early-career performers will then work and learn from the Continuum core ensemble to prepare and perform the new compositions, as well as two pieces by composition mentors Linda Catlin Smith and Anthony Tan.
These freshly created compositions, only a few months old, will be performed by the next generation of Canadian performers: The Hatch ensemble will be conducted by Kelly Lin, participant in the Women In Musical Leadership program.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. Tickets per show are $45 for adults and $40 for seniors and students, or purchase both concerts and enjoy a $20 discount. Click here to purchase tickets.
