Stories of wands have held the magic of connection to wishes, dreams and people.
Delane Cooper, artist and goldsmith, made her first Connection Wand collection when a dear friend, Bruce Vachon was released from pain. His wife, Mary Vachon, commissioned Delane to make one hundred-fifty wands for his Celebration of Life. Since then, Delane has guided individuals to create their own Connection Wands so wand makers can create their own ritual to visit with those treasured, loved or departed.
Creating and holding a Connection Wand invites the maker to be with their grief whether it be of a dream, a former version of oneself or the loss of a being and to be with them in spirit… to remember, to laugh, to love and to be. During shared time together, Delane will guide makers through the process of making a unique wand from naturally felled tree branches so no two wands will be alike.
Beads, wire, markers and some found objects are supplied to adorn the wands. Makers are invited to bring a small object of their own to attach to the connection wand they will be making but it’s not necessary.
The time together is a 90 minute experience, and is recommended for those age 16 and over. Artistic skills or experience is not required.
The experience will take place on Saturday, February 7th, 2026 from 10 AM-12 PM at Macaulay House, 35 Church Street, Picton. $45, ages 16+. Space is limited. Reserve your place here.
