As the armed conflict in Ukraine enters its seventh deadly month, the overwhelming and devastating consequences on civilians, over 6.6 million of whom are internally displaced, persist.
To help support ongoing, essential humanitarian work in the region, the County Museums and County Arts are collaborating to host Sunflowers for Ukraine – A Silent Art Auction Fundraiser, with proceeds going to the Red Cross’ Ukraine efforts. The Auction will run throughout the month of November at Macaulay Church Museum as part of the Museums’ Remembrance Day activities.
We are turning to our wonderful and talented community of artists to ask for donations of original, sunflower-themed artworks to be auctioned off in support of this important cause. 2D works (painting, drawings, mixed media, photography etc.), as well as textile and sculptural works of a reasonable size are welcome. Open to any artists in the Quinte region.
Please visit countyarts.ca/apply for full details. Please email Andrea (programs@countyarts.ca) by Friday October 7th to let us know that you will be donating an artwork. Participating artists must deliver artworks to Macaulay Church Museum (35 Church Street, Picton) during opening hours – 11 AM – 4 PM, Wednesday through Saturday. The submission deadline is Saturday, October 22nd at 4 PM.
Loans of easels to help display artworks are also being graciously accepted – please contact Chris Palmer (cpalmer@pecounty.on.ca) or Georgia Papanicolaou (gpapanicolaou@pecounty.on.ca) from The Museums if you have an easel you could spare for the month of November.
Please email Andrea Dawes, County Arts Program and Communications Manager, at programs@countyarts.ca with any questions regarding this Call for Submissions.
