How You See It
Arts on Main Gallery in Picton

Arts on Main Gallery is calling all youth artists to display their work in the Backroom Gallery.

Adding to the vibrancy of their winter showcase, Fragments, on exhibition until February 26th, 2025, the Gallery is proud to collaborate with theROC Youth Services to host a special exhibition for youth artists aged 14-18. The show, titled How You See It, will run from February 1st-22nd, 2025, with an opening reception on February 1st from 2-4 PM.

Interested youth artists can submit their work by January 22nd, 2025, to either theROC Youth Services at 299 Main St., Picton, or Arts on Main Gallery at 223 Main St., Picton. Art in all visual mediums—including painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, pottery, and photography—is welcomed.

Submissions must be labeled with the title, medium, artist’s name, price or Not For Sale (NFS), and contact information (phone number or email). There will be a “How to Price and How to Wire” session for the students sometime in January at the Gallery (date to be confirmed). Students will be notified by January 26th if their work will be featured. Please note that depending on how many submissions are received, space may necessitate light jurying by local artists.

Proceeds from sales will be shared equally between the artist and theROC Youth Services, with the Gallery providing the gallery space at no charge and without profit.

For more information about the youth show, contact Whitney at theROC Youth Services (whitney@theroc.ca) or Iris at Arts on Main Gallery (info@artsonmaingallery.ca).

The Gallery is also offering the Backroom Gallery as a space for guest artists. This exhibition space is available for 6-week blocks, with an opening currently available from May 5th-June 6th, 2025. The Gallery is also booking for 2026. Contact info@artsonmaingallery.ca for more information.

The Backroom gallery is open to all artists upon review and acceptance of their proposal. Proposals should include a brief description of the type of work the artist intends to exhibit, an artistic statement relative to the show, and submit about 6 images of the types of work they intend to show. Cost is $575 for 6 weeks.
