The 31st Annual Art in the County Juried Exhibition & Sale continues until July 7th, 2024.
Sponsored by Elizabeth Crombie Real Estate Team, McDougall Insurance and Financial and Sean McKinney of RE/MAX Quinte Ltd., the show has welcomed over 1200 visitors since the official opening on June 21st, 2024. You will find an array of artistic mediums on display, including painting, drawing, printmaking, encaustic, photography, collage, stone sculptures, glass work, digital art, textile art, ceramics, and more. This year’s show features 125 works of art by 88 County-based artists, hung in the beautiful and bright new County Arts Lab in Unit 2E of the Picton Armoury.
During the opening reception, Art in the County’s Organizing Committee Interim Chair Janna Smith remarked, “We are very fortunate to live in such a vibrant creative community, and Art in the County is a moment to celebrate the artists who contribute to that vibrancy. As the largest show in recent memory, it is truly an exhibition for all art-lovers.”
This year’s jurors were Aylan Couchie (Artist, Curator & Writer, Nipissing First Nation), Claire Kyle (Art Rental and Sales at the AGO, Toronto) and Darren Rigo (Photographer, Toronto), who were solely responsible for choosing work to be in the show. They were also responsible for selecting one Jurors’ Choice Award and three Honourable Mentions, and assisted with the selection of the Maison Depoivre Award, Carson Arthur Award, and Akasha Art Projects Award.
County Arts and the Art in the County organizing committee extend congratulations to all artists juried into this year’s show, with a special nod to all of this year’s award winners, who are listed on Art in the County’s Winners Gallery page.
Art in the County is open daily from 10 AM-6 PM, (until 5PM Sundays) and until 2 PM on July 7th. All works are for sale, with 65% of proceeds going to the artist. As a charitable organization, County Arts is exempt from charging HST. The public can also view an online version of the exhibition and purchase work directly on Art in the County’s homepage. Entry to the show is free, however donations are greatly appreciated.
