Vera derives her work from her interest in fashion and interior design. Observation of the past is affiliated with ideas of what can be in the present. Her subjects are variable in their serenity represented by awareness of their setting. She attempts to suggest a narrative that surrounds the female figure in elusive environments. Paintings and drawings begin with reference to her own history as a woman and mother experiencing birth, growth and loss.
Vera studied painting and drawing at the Banff school of Fine Arts, Fashion Illustration at the University of Alberta and Costume Design at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Toronto.
Vera is the owner of Sasha Studio & Gallery in Prince Edward County.
