Having spent my early career as a photographer, I’ve always been passionate about figurative painting and portraiture. My daughters were my inspiration for my first portrait paintings. I had a desire to capture that fleeting moment of youth and beauty in a more expressive medium. I prefer to focus on the human form employing traditional techniques to express the tonal nuances of the flesh and anatomy, leaving the background uncluttered. Often the figure is immersed in abstraction giving the work a more contemporary feel that explores the division between the contrasting genres.
