Kamee Abrahamian
scattered, sown (mixed media) 2018

Born in an immigrant suburb of Toronto to an Armenian family who came to Canada by way of the Syria/Lebanon, Kamee Abrahamian arrives in the world today as a queer mother and an interdisciplinary creative, writer, producer, and facilitator. She holds a BFA/BA in film and political science from Concordia University and an MA in expressive art therapy from the European Graduate Institute. Kamee is currently pursuing an MA/PhD in community, liberation, and eco psychologies from the Pacifica Graduate Institute.

The bedrock of Kamee’s creative background is in visual art, performance, film, and immersive storytelling. Her work is primarily collaborative. She is interested in ancestral reclamation, diasporic futurism, and radical imaginaries. Kamee has published both literary and academic work, internationally exhibited and presented visual and digital artwork, films and staged performances, curated art spaces and events, and facilitated workshops across Canada and USA. Most recently, she has been working on her dissertation, working freelance under Saboteur Productions (founder) and collaboratively through Kalik Arts (co-founder).

Some creative projects include a solo mixed media show in Armenia in 2019, research & creation for a new interdisciplinary storytelling project, a short film entitled Transmission that is due to hit the festival circuit, and a workshop she is developing/facilitating for young Armenian artists and media-makers.

Having just moved to the County in early September, Kamee is eager to dig her heels into the arts community and find new ways of collaborating with local artists. If you have an idea, or just want to say hello, please email her at lorikamee@gmail.com.
